Bicycles & Frames

At excelcycle we choose each of our bike brands based on its unique characteristics. We offer a range of brands, each with its own distinct riding feel and personality.

For the time being, we sell our bikes and frames in-store only. We’re currently working to create detailed descriptions of the ride, the fit, and the feel of each frameset we plan to sell online. We’re also making sure to provide photos that accurately depict different elements of each frame, so not only can you pick a bike based on our opinion of the ride, but also based on the details that each manufacturer includes in their designs.

If you have any questions please call us at 877.474.3180 or use our Contact Us page. We'd be more than happy to help out.

If you live in the Minneapolis/St. Paul area, come on out for a test ride! Bring your shoes, pedals and a helmet, and we'll send you on our test course around beautiful St. Alban's Bay on Lake Minnetonka.

Our fitting process is very thorough. To learn more about our fitting process visit our fitting and positioning page.

BH Bikes

Although BH Bikes doesn’t have the most recognized name in the US, they’ve got a century of experience making and selling bikes in Europe. BH has seen their bikes win the Vuelta a Espana seven times, as well as a number of stages at the Tour de France and other storied stage races.

BH’s racing machines like the G4 and the Connect are known for their incredibly responsive handling, but they also offer a more tamed-down bike in both the GC and the Speedrom. BH is serious about the performance of their bikes, so even the GC and Speedrom are light and fast.

If you’re looking for a women’s bike, be sure to check out the Cristal, which is a properly redesigned version of the Connect.

Bianchi

Bianchi offers the most complete line of any brand we carry at excelcycle. From hybrid bikes to race-spec carbon road bikes and everything in between, Bianchi offers a bike to meet everyone’s needs.

Bianchi has a long history of winning every bike race under the sun, but also pays attention to the little details that make a city bike fun and comfortable to ride. Bianchi’s ability to understand so many different market segments so well is the main reason we carry the brand.

Kent Eriksen

Kent Eriksen’s hand-built titanium frames are custom works of art. Kent is the guy who started Moots, and in 2006 he decided it was time to give it another go.

Eriksen prides himself on innovative design, customer satisfaction, and high quality. Kent and his staff work with each customer to make sure that their bike is exactly what they want. With titanium, and specifically Kent Eriksen titanium, you can literally buy one frame for the rest of your life. Not that you would, but you could in theory ride the same Kent Eriksen frame for the next three decades.

Kent can build nearly anything you want, from road bikes to ‘cross bikes to crazy full suspension mountain bikes. If you want something incredibly exclusive, stop in and get started on designing your custom Eriksen - Kent only builds about 175 frames a year.

Lapierre

From Dijon, France, Lapierre bikes have over 50 years of racing heritage. As the official bike of the Francaise des Jeux ProTour team, Lapierre bikes have won stages in the Tour de France, and even took home a green jersey thanks to Baden Cooke in 2003. Lapierre's line ranges from aluminum bikes for beginners to the carbon fiber X-Lite II Web Series, the exact model ridden by the FdJ team in their races. We carry Lapierre not only for the cool technology of the X-Lite II, but also for the incredible value represented by the whole Lapierre line.

LOOK Cycle

LOOK's bikes have won just about everything there is to win. The company is all about high-end performance and getting the most out of every frame they design, but they also know that some folks want a more comfortable ride.

LOOK produces multiple versions of their 595 and 585 frames, each with different flex characteristics in mind. The Ultra versions favor stiffness over all other aspects, whereas the Optimum goes for comfort, and the Origin offers a fantastic blend of the two.

If the 585 Optimum still isn’t quite what you’re looking for, check out the 566, an example of just how well LOOK can blend performance with all-day comfort. If you’re looking for something a little more sleek, then the 586 is an excellent choice. Using monocoque construction, LOOK keeps the weight under 1000 grams, keeps the frame torsionally rigid, and is able to build in a level of comfort not found on many tube-to-tube or lugged frames.

Redline

Redline is our main cyclocross brand. The various Conquest models offered by Redline are an incredible value, and as such we sell a huge number of them each year. Redline has a ‘cross bike to meet nearly any budget, and all of the models perform like champs.

We also carry geared and singlespeed road bikes from Redline.

You won’t find any fancy, full-carbon bikes in Redline’s line-up, but you will find a collection of bikes that can take anything you can throw at them and that won’t offer a single complaint while you ride them hard.

Ridley

A Belgian brand, Ridley uses their location in the center of the bicycle racing universe to produce some of the sweetest racing frames around. From the ultra-aerodynamic Dean and Noah, all the way down to the Orion, every Ridley carries a racing pedigree.

Just because they’re fast doesn’t mean they’re not great every day bikes, though. With frame geometry that allows for a more relaxed fit, riders can be in a dedicated race position or a more casual position for longer tours and day-to-day use.

Ridley prides themselves on their finishes, and it shows. In addition to the flawless paint found on the whole line, the Dean and Noah both feature R-Surface aerodynamic paint, which helps smooth the airflow over the frame.

Wilier Triestina

Wilier can brag about something that most other bike companies can’t - multiple world championships in multiple disciplines. 2008 UCI world road racing champion Allesandro Ballan rode a Wilier, as did 2000 UCI world time trial champion Sergei Gonchar.

With it’s extra-wide bottom bracket and looped stays, Wilier’s Cento1 road bike is a sight to behold. Even more impressive is the John Cobb designed Cento Crono, with it’s fluid lines and downright sleek look.

Wilier also offers bikes in a more affordable price range, such as the Mortirolo, a carbon bike that won’t break the bank. For a bike that offers classic Italian performance mixed with new technology, check out a Wilier.
