The 585 is the perfect compromise between lightness, stiffness and comfort. At 990 grams (size small), its weight is certainly one of the lightest on today's market, but it also benefits from the most recent advances in the field of carbon technology.
Made from Very High Modulus (VHM) tubes which optimize the weight and stiffness of the frame, the 585 also includes exclusive LOOK technology in the manufacturing of carbon lugs: forged at very high pressure for the bottom bracket (the part of the frame most subject to stress), woven for the seat post and head tube.
With its 100% carbon monobloc HSC5 SL fork it also benefits from exclusive LOOK technology with its molded and compressed dropouts; the frame and fork assembly only weighs 1300 grams.
VHPC Bottom Bracket (Very High Pressure Compressed Carbon): The bottom bracket is the heart of the frame. In order to maximize pedaling efficiency, LOOK has developed a proprietary technique called "Compression Carbon Technology." The precise positioning of carbon fibers inside the mold combined with very high pressure compression during the molding process produces a very stiff bottom bracket shell. The weight of the bottom bracket is only 130 gm with a 170 N/mm stiffness rating once the frame has been assembled. You feel the bike accelerate as you transmit power with each pedal stroke.
