For weight weenies looking for a shoe that remains stiff, supportive, and comfortable despite its weight, the Aerlite 3 is a top contender. Drawing on the history of Northwave’s Aerator, the Aerlite 3 offers a carbon sole that’s a bit lighter than the Aerlite SBS’s sole, but nearly as stiff.
The upper uses the Aerator System to channel massive amounts of air through and keep you cool, and features a third velcro strap as opposed to a ratchet buckle for lower weight. Northwave’s shoes fit differently than others, with a little more curvy sole and footbed, and a roomier upper.
Northwave’s toe box is wider and rounder, and the sole is a little wider in the forefoot. As with all Northwave road shoes, the cleat hardware allows for significantly more side-to-side adjustment than other shoes. This is great for people with hip, knee, or ankle problems caused by wider or narrower stances.
