Ridley Damocles Carbon Road Bike Frame

The Ridley Damocles is a serious racer, but it’s got a softer side too. You can blast the super stiff, monocoque high-modulus carbon fiber frame in a big ring sprint without losing any power, but you can ride the Damocles all day without feeling like your fillings are going to rattle out.

With a single piece, monocoque construction consisting of 30 ton and 24 ton high-modulus carbon fiber, the 1200 gram Ridley Damocles frame is built to withstand sprints from guys like Robbie McEwen without flexing. The oversized and custom-tuned tube shapes of the Ridley Damocles are designed to get you across the line in a hurry, but still make you want to get back on the next day.

Ridley is able to incorporate some everyday comfort into the race day machine though, thanks to a carefully controlled carbon fiber lay-up and a taller head tube. With carbon fiber, the ride of the frame can be highly tuned for different characteristics, and the Ridley Damocles frame is built to resist twisting flex, but also to offer a little bit of vibration reduction and bump compliance. With the taller head tube and oversized lower bearing, the Ridley Damocles keeps the front end stiff when you need it and also takes some of the stress off your neck and back when you’re out on an epic ride.

A note on Ridley sizing: Ridley uses a sloping top tube on their bikes, so in order to select the proper size, it’s important to pay attention to the effective top tube as opposed to the seat tube length. You really should focus on effective top tube on any frame, but it’s especially critical on sloping top tube frames.
