Ridley Damocles Pozzato ISP Carbon Road Bike Frame

The Ridley Damocles ISP frameset is a serious racer, but it’s got a softer side too. You can blast the super stiff, monocoque high-modulus carbon fiber frame in a big ring sprint without losing any power, but you can ride the Damocles ISP all day without feeling like your fillings are going to rattle out. The Damocles ISP takes the regular Damocles to new heights by adding an integrated seatpost, which adds stiffness and improves handling. The ISP adds 90 grams to the frame, but saves weight when you compare a complete Damocles to a complete Damocles ISP because you won’t need a seatpost or clamp.

With a single piece, monocoque construction consisting of 30 ton and 24 ton high-modulus carbon fiber, the 1290 gram Ridley Damocles frame is the same one that carried Filipo Pozzato to the 2009 Italian national championship. To commemorate the win, Ridley produced 200 limited-edition Damocles ISPs, and the US was lucky enough to get 100 of them.

Ridley is able to incorporate some everyday comfort into the Damocles ISP thanks to a carefully controlled carbon fiber lay-up and a taller head tube. With carbon fiber, the ride of the frame can be highly tuned for different characteristics, and the Ridley Damocles ISP frameset is built to resist twisting flex, but also to offer a little bit of vibration reduction and bump compliance. With the taller head tube and oversized lower bearing, the Ridley Damocles ISP keeps the front end stiff when you need it and also takes some of the stress off your neck and back when you’re out on an epic ride.

A note on Ridley sizing: Ridley uses a sloping top tube on their bikes, so in order to select the proper size, it’s important to pay attention to the effective top tube as opposed to the seat tube length. You really should focus on effective top tube on any frame, but it’s especially critical on sloping top tube frames.
