To not address the shifting technology in the SRAM Red Braze-On Front Derailleur compared to it's predecessor, the Force, would do it a huge injustice.
United with DoubleTap controls leave it with beyond impeccable gear changes and unlimited adjustment in the small and big chainrings. If you're looking at this derailleur's structure, one of the most outstanding changes between Red and Force is it's new cage made from a hardened titanium. This new shell not only allows the SRAM Red Braze-On Front Derailleur to shift and adjust at a smoother level, but also leaves the body nearly 20g lighter than it's predecessor, where with a braze-on finish, it weighs in at a light 53g.
Like the Force, this derailleur works well whether if you're utilizing a compact crankset (50/34) or a standard (53/39).
