People are still buzzing about the design and craftsmanship of the SRAM OG 1090 Cassette. Made using "PowerDome" technology, translating to the top 8 cogs being CNC'd from a single piece of chromoly steel in a process that even leaves us jaw-dropped, the SRAM OG 1090 Cassette is 35% harder than titanium. Further translation, harder cassette cogs are more durable cogs, thus, you'll end up replacing your cassette less often.
Genius, pure genius.
Aside from being amazingly durable, PowerDome technology leaves the SRAM OG 1090 Cassette with two additional benefits: lightness and stiffness. The 11/23 weighs an amazing 155g and the 11/26 at 166g, which compared to a steel/titanium Record cassette weighing in at 220g, the lightweight constitution is unbelievable. In terms of stiffness, SRAM attests that their one-piece cassette dome makes the SRAM OG 1090 Cassette 15% stiffer than any other cassette, which has obvious benefits when you're climbing cogs, wrapping a lot of chain and exerting no small amount of torque, and like it's predecessor, the OG 1070, this model packs a punch with OpenGlide technology that allows for smoother transition between gears.
The SRAM OG 1090 Cassette fits any Shimano 9/10-speed freehub and it's compatible with any 10-speed chain, may that be SRAM, Shimano or Wippermann's S-series. For the best performance, use one of their 10-speed PC-100 series chains for superior shifting.
