Built and based on the groundbreaking design that made it's predecessor, the Force Rear Derailleur, with features like its burly 2-spring system and SRAM's Exact Actuation technology where the derailleur pulls the came length of the cable no matter what gear you're using, the difference in the SRAM Red Black Rear Derailleur isn't limited to its sleek color alone, so don't be fooled.
A huge reduction in drag, that's all we need to say… but we'll go a little deeper.
The SRAM Red Black Rear Derailleur's pulleys were upgraded using SRAM's Black Box ceramic cartridge bearings, which offer outrageous hardness and roundness in comparison to steel. What does this mean? Aside from being a dream, it cuts back significantly on the mechanical drag of the pulleys as a whole.
Other perks? By slightly altering elements used in the body of the SRAM Red Black Rear Derailleur, such as changing the inner link from magnesium to carbon fiber, shifting from a carbon/aluminum cage to a full carbon cage and one-upping the parallelogram spring to titanium, the SRAM Red Black Rear Derailleur lost a lot of weight - nearly a full ounce. It also accommodates cassette gearing as low as 28t cog and comes with a chain wrap capacity to handle any of SRAM's crankset/cassette combos, no mater if what you use is standard or compact.
And because it comes with SRAM's Exact Actuation technology, it's compatible with all SRAM shift levers, may it be the Red, Force or the Rival.
