SRAM Rival Shifters take all the features of Red and render them in more affordable materials to save you some money. By using more steel and aluminum as opposed to titanium, SRAM Rival shifters do gain a bit of weight, but the performance is still up to par with the top of the line Red shifters thanks to SRAM’s Zero Loss technology.
Zero Loss translates even the slightest amount of lever travel into cable pull to give you quick and precise shifts. SRAM Rival Shifters use independently adjustable carbon fiber brake levers and aluminum shift levers to give you the perfect reach. Comfort is further enhanced by dual cable routing, which allows you to run your cables on either side of your bars, giving you a smooth look and feel under the tape.
Like other SRAM shifters, Rival uses SRAM’s DoubleTap shifting, where one lever controls shifts in both directions. SRAM Rival Shifters have the trim adjustment on the big ring, allowing you to use the full 10 gears in back and shift less up front. SRAM Rival shifters are compatible only with SRAM derailleurs, but they’ll work just fine with Shimano brakes, chains, cassettes, and cranksets, so mixing and matching is fine as long as your shifters and derailleurs are from SRAM.
